Subhas Sarobar, located in Metropolitan, Kolkata, is an important artificial lake that provides recreation and relaxation for many urban people. Every day, local residents visit this lake for fresh air, walking, and spending peaceful time near nature. The lake is also used by some local people for washing clothes, bathing, and collecting water for different purposes. Apart from helping people, Subhas Sarobar is also home to many living organisms, including fishes, birds, and reptiles like snakes, making it an important urban habitat for biodiversity.

However, the condition of this beautiful lake is becoming worse due to pollution and careless human activities. Many people throw plastic materials, broken utensils, wilted plants, and other waste near the water body. Because of this, the area is becoming dirty day by day and the natural environment of the lake is getting affected. Pollution not only damages the beauty of the lake but also harms the animals and plants living there.

To protect Subhas Sarobar, local people should work together to keep the area clean. Regular cleaning drives should be organized, and waste should be thrown only in proper dustbins. Awareness programs can help people understand the importance of protecting urban water bodies and wildlife. Taking care of the animals living near the lake is also very important for maintaining biodiversity.

As students and responsible citizens, we should take initiative to spread awareness and inspire others to protect lakes and wetlands. If everyone contributes a little, Subhas Sarobar can remain clean, beautiful, and healthy for future generations.
